Many of the individuals who come into the Derechos Humanos office are in need of legal advice or representation. Unfortunately, many of these individuals cannot afford representation, and it is often difficult for them, especially if they are part of the immigrant community, to find a lawyer who can take their case. Derechos Humanos does not have legal representation on staff, and can offer no legal advice. The Legal Justice Network seeks to identify community lawyers who would be willing to take a certain number of pro-bono or reduced rate cases. In this way, individuals who would have otherwise had no hope of having situations resolved can consult with a lawyer who is willing to help them.
